Beacon Kalamazoo is seeking a Vice President of Operations to lead its 422-bed acute care facility in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The hospital, which generates approximately $400 million in annual revenue, is a designated Level II trauma center and offers a comprehensive range of services, including advanced cardiovascular care, neuroscience, orthopedics, cancer treatment, and women’s health. The hospital is currently undergoing strategic transitions following its recent acquisition by Beacon Health System, ushering in a new era of integrated care and operational excellence as part of the Beacon network.
As the largest of four hospitals recently acquired by Beacon Health System, Beacon Kalamazoo will play a key role in expanding Beacon’s footprint across southwest Michigan. The acquisition brings approximately 2,700 employees and 261 providers into the Beacon network, along with numerous outpatient clinics and an ambulatory surgery center. Beacon Health System, a not-for-profit organization, already serves more than 4,000 patients daily across northern Indiana and southern Michigan through its established network, including Memorial Hospital, Elkhart General Hospital, Beacon Children’s Hospital, Community Hospital of Bremen, Three Rivers Hospital, and Beacon Medical Group.
The next VP will report to Carl Risk, President of Beacon Kalamazoo, and should have significant operational experience in a high-intensity, fast-paced hospital setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen and a proven track record in hospital administration. A deep understanding and practical application of LEAN methodologies is essential, with demonstrated success in driving process improvements, eliminating inefficiencies, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The VP must be an effective communicator, capable of engaging with stakeholders and driving operational initiatives that align with Beacon Health System’s strategic goals.
