Reporting to the Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President of Facilities Development and Operations is responsible for campus planning, design and construction, real estate, clinical engineering, and managing the maintenance and operations of 3.6 million square feet of hospital, clinical, academic, and research space.

This includes overseeing the development and execution of a comprehensive space management strategy that enhances cost efficiency, maximizes space utilization, and ensures adherence to regulatory and safety standards. Data-driven decision-making will be essential in planning, allocation, and future infrastructure investments.
In alignment with UConn Health’s strategic plan, the VP will also drive facility expansion efforts to support the growth of the clinical enterprise. The VP will ensure design continuity and apply proven planning frameworks to maintain operational integrity and consistency. Additionally, they will provide strategic leadership in aligning facilities planning with long-term organizational priorities, optimizing capital investments, and reinforcing stakeholder confidence through transparent, data-informed infrastructure decisions.
The ideal candidate should foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and strategic alignment throughout the organization. This leader will be expected to build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including staff, executive leadership, and board members, as well as with external partners such as local legislators and community representatives. By demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to collective success, the VP will play a pivotal role in uniting diverse groups around shared goals and initiatives.
