Abbott Northwestern Hospital (ANW), the flagship hospital of Allina Health, seeks a collaborative, visible and distinguished executive to serve as its next Vice President, Patient Care Services (VPPCS). This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and elevate nursing practice at one of the largest acute care hospitals in the region.
ANW is a four-time Magnet designated nationally recognized state-wide and regional referral center serving nearly 200,000 patients each year, with nearly 700 staffed beds, 5,600 employees, and 2,000 physicians. The hospital also received national recognition in nine specialty areas: cardiac surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, and pulmonology.
The VPPCS will arrive during an exciting time for ANW and Allina, as they continue to seek opportunities to leverage their national reputation for high quality care, system-wide capabilities, and clinical strengths in order to fortify their designation as a destination referral center for Allina Health and beyond. ANW has attracted and retained world-class physicians despite staunch competition from Mayo Clinic and the University of Minnesota Hospital. The highly engaged clinical enterprise at ANW is entrepreneurial and innovative, spreading clinical best practices across the entirety of the health system and serving as the incubator for new clinical programs and services.
The new VPPCS will bring strategic, clinical and operational strength to advance nursing practice, have a collaborative nature, and the acumen to work within this complex and matrixed organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working within a unionized environment and a genuine passion for patient care.
