WittKieffer is collaborating with Tenet Health in San Antonio, TX to find a dynamic CEO for Tenet Physician Resources (TPR). Reporting to the Market CEO of Tenet Physician Resources, the new CEO will oversee ambulatory employed providers and practices outside hospital and market locations, both existing and newly acquired. The CEO will coordinate with local hospitals, market management, and corporate departments to ensure efficient operations, start-up, and onboarding activities.
The CEO will manage physician practice activities, including human resources, customer service, satisfaction, financial management, medical operations, business information systems, practice profile analysis, and regulatory compliance. Strategic planning for physician/practice development, physician recruitment, and practice location selection are key aspects of this role. The CEO will also standardize start-up and onboarding processes and participate in monthly operational and financial reviews to ensure accountability and improvement.
This executive will lead the advancement of employed providers into a mature group practice, integrated into Tenet Health and Baptist Health System, engaging with approximately 200 providers in the San Antonio market. The CEO will leverage the medical community’s strength, emphasizing clinical integration to optimize patient experience and outcomes. Establishing best practices for patient satisfaction, cost containment, utilization, and productivity is crucial. Managing provider compensation plans will be essential to maintaining a motivated medical staff.
Tenet Healthcare has experienced significant growth, with USPI, Tenet’s ASC division, reporting strong growth in 2024 and planning significant investments in mergers and acquisitions within the ambulatory space. The CEO will assess the organization’s current state, determine future physician needs, identify gaps, and develop plans to address those gaps, fostering a culture of engagement and professional satisfaction.
Candidates must have at least ten years of executive experience managing a large multi-specialty group of physicians, with broad oversight of operational areas. They should possess advanced expertise in physician practice management, including financial operations, patient relations, and regulatory compliance. A Bachelor’s degree in Management or a related field is required, with preference given to candidates holding an M.D., MHA, or MBA. The ideal candidate will have high personal and professional integrity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively.
