Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS), serving a large population in Central Upstate New York, is seeking its next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead this important community-focused healthcare system. This is an outstanding opportunity to further strengthen and coalesce its team around its strategic goals and vision, its performance, and overall, advance its vibrant mission and commitment to providing access to premier healthcare, keeping patients and the community as the focus. In partnership with others, the CEO will build on Mohawk Valley’s many strengths: a dedicated, engaged workforce, a broad scope of clinical services, an expanding physician network, and the notable recent opening of a new state-of-the-art regional medical center. This role is ideally suited for an authentic, engaging, strategically oriented leader who embraces servant leadership, employee engagement, quality improvement, and culture building and provides leadership that elevates operational and financial performance.
With more than 3,500 full-time equivalent employees, approximately $750 million in annual revenue, and total assets of $1 billion, MVHS serves the geographic area of Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison counties. Given its size, charitable mission, and role as a major employer, MVHS is an organizational pillar in Utica and the region. The health system is the second largest employer in the area and generates more than $2 billion in economic activity.
MVHS’s call for leadership is for an experienced, focused individual to build on the organization’s strengths, and further improve clinical programs, physician alignment, quality, operational and financial performance, and continue expanding its various partnerships.
The CEO will build upon the current momentum of the organization as it advances new and innovative ways to enhance access to care, investments in technology, the implementation of the financial improvement plan, and opportunities to improve the overall health and wellness of the region. It is critical the CEO establish a consistent presence as an approachable, trusted organizational and community leader. The CEO will need to fully appreciate and embrace the unique characteristics and needs of the region’s communities and advance MVHS’s vibrant mission to its employees, patients, and community.
Following a decade that brought a successful merger, a collective response to the pandemic, and the opening of a new facility, MVHS is entering an exciting new era of growth and community impact. This is an outstanding leadership opportunity to serve as CEO of a community-focused, regional health system that includes a dedicated, high-performing leadership team, a state-of-the-art new medical center, and a broad array of programs and services to its communities.
