Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas is looking for a mission-driven, collaborative, and patient-focused executive to serve as its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO) following the retirement of its longtime CFO.
Founded in 1945, Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas (BHSET) is a 483-bed facility that generates nearly $500 million in net revenue. With a long-standing reputation for clinical excellence and high-quality healthcare, BHSET is recognized as the best hospital in the area. In 2000, BHSET became a Community Hospital Corporation (CHC) member and is now the organization’s most prominent affiliate. CHC was established with the mission of helping hospitals remain community-operated and governed.
The CFO will report directly to the CEO of BHSET and be a key part of the executive team. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, detail-oriented, and transparent leader, serving as a strategic partner to the CEO. They should understand clinical operations and have strong financial skills to ensure BHSET’s financial health, regulatory compliance, and positive community image, supporting strategic growth. The CFO will also identify opportunities to diversify revenue, anticipate challenges, and solve problems innovatively. Additionally, they will create a succession plan for the finance team, focusing on mentorship, skill development, retention, and coaching.
This executive will be responsible for strategic and operational leadership and identifying opportunities to diversify revenue sources. BHSET has a strong faith-based culture, and this executive must strengthen that culture.
Candidates should have extensive financial experience in hospitals or integrated health systems, preferably in both for-profit and not-for-profit settings. The ideal candidate will be a values-driven leader with integrity, a proven track record in strategic growth, and excellent financial, operational, and quality performance. They should be an effective communicator, trusted relationship builder, and visible leader in the community, understanding BHSET’s critical role in Beaumont.
