Riley Children’s Health, the comprehensive pediatric health system of IU Health, is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead operations, process improvement, and overall performance. A strong leader of people and a collaborator, the COO facilitates the annual operational excellence planning process. They will design and oversee the structure and process to maintain line-of-sight to performance across the enterprise.
Since 1924, Riley Children’s Health has consistently raised the bar for excellence in pediatric healthcare. As a comprehensive children’s health system serving the state of Indiana, the Midwest, and beyond, Riley Children’s offers nationally recognized care in a footprint that meets patients and families close to home. Riley Children’s operates two hospitals with a total of 475 beds and provides outpatient care across 18 communities through a robust primary and specialty care network. It combines the specialization of a comprehensive pediatric system with the power of IU Health, the state’s largest health system, ensuring patients have access to groundbreaking research and innovative treatments to complement high-quality patient care. Faculty physicians within Riley Children’s are members of the IU School of Medicine.
Reporting to the president for Riley Children’s Health, the COO will be responsible for ensuring that the organization streamlines its approach to meeting its “Promise Dashboard” commitment of improving quality and safety, great patient experience, great team member experience, and funding Riley Children’s vision. The COO will also lead capital improvement project implementation and resource management and will partner with other Riley Children’s executives to implement the Riley Children’s One Team Culture. The incoming executive will be a highly visible and engaged leader who can leverage a peer network of COOs across Indiana and the broader industry. The Chief Operating Officer will be a values-based senior leader who can work effectively with a talented executive team dedicated to creating an ecosystem to facilitate optimal child health and well-being. The COO will engage colleagues across the health system and work well in a matrixed environment. They must be viewed as a change leader and understand the importance of delivering on daily operations while navigating future strategic imperatives.
