Lawrence University invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Finance & Administration (VPFA).
Reporting directly to President Laurie A. Carter, J.D., the Vice President for Finance & Administration is the chief financial officer for the University, providing strategic and financial/operational leadership and management oversight of all financial functions. The VPFA serves as a member of the senior Cabinet, a collaborative body that provides strategic and operational direction to the institution. The VPFA provides strategic financial guidance and recommendations on operations to the President and senior executive team, setting and achieving the mission, goals, and objectives of the University, and provides support for several committees of the Board of Trustees. This position oversees and manages a wide range of financial and administrative functions, including accounting and financial reporting, treasury, investment management, cash management, debt management, budget and planning, and financial analysis.
The VPFA should possess an advanced professional degree in accounting, finance, business, law, or a related field. The successful candidates will have an established record of significant fiscal management experience with a minimum of ten years as a financial/operations practitioner, preferably with experience in a broad range of financial/operations activities. Candidates will also be expected to have a command of financial modeling, physical plant maintenance and renewal, construction and property management, human resources, and information technology infrastructure/software to support an institution of higher learning. Additionally, the successful candidate must possess demonstrated administrative, supervisory, and leadership skills, as well as excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Experience within a college or university environment is especially valued.
