The University of North Texas (UNT), in partnership with WittKieffer, is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, forward-thinking leader to serve as the next Vice Provost for International Affairs (VPIA).
Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, The VPIA serves as the university’s Senior International Officer, a member of the Provost’s Cabinet and Deans’ Council and regularly participates in other high level administrative meetings across campus. The VPIA leads a comprehensive and centralized International Affairs unit of full-time staff/faculty members and oversees six functional areas: International Student Recruitment, International Student and Scholar Services, Global Engagement, Programming, Study Abroad, and the Intensive English Language Institute. The International Affairs unit delivers comprehensive campus internationalization initiatives, guidance, and service to the greater campus community, having an accomplished leadership team with strong representation across professional organizations including AIRC, AIEA, and NAFSA.
The VPIA is a visible campus leader and plays a pivotal role in enhancing the university’s reputation in international education, exchange, and research through strategic initiatives. This position involves coordinating international student recruitment, retention, and success strategies with various stakeholders, both on campus and around the world. The Vice Provost leads and mentors a team of over 40 professionals, adeptly managing change and uncertainty while fostering international awareness and partnership among faculty, staff, students, and the community. Additionally, the role requires cultivating and sustaining strategic partnerships with international institutions to advance global engagement and collaboration.

The successful candidate for this position will be nationally recognized as a leader in the field of International Education. The ideal candidate will have held a senior international officer (SIO) or Deputy SIO position for a minimum of three years at a similarly sized and structured Tier One research institution, will have an additional three years of director level experience in one or more functional areas of international education, with a minimum ten years of effective administrative leadership experience. An earned graduate degree is required, a doctoral degree is preferred.
