For the past 22 years, Phoenix Children’s, one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing pediatric healthcare systems, has been led by its current President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Robert L. Meyer, who recently announced his plans for retirement in the summer of 2025. As a result, Phoenix Children’s seeks a dynamic, distinguished executive to serve as its next CEO for its integrated children’s health system.
This is a unique opportunity to lead one of the most respected and largest not-for-profit, independent pediatric health systems in the country. It will be a career-defining role for an executive committed to excellence and innovation in pediatric care, advocacy, community service, research, and education.
The new CEO will be responsible for leading Phoenix Children’s as the health system continues to build a new, transformative model for pediatric healthcare in the 21st century. The CEO reports to the Phoenix Children’s Board of Directors, collaboratively working with them and the executive leadership team to align goals and execute effective strategies on behalf of the communities served by Phoenix Children’s.
The Phoenix Children’s CEO will bring to the position a leadership style based on values and mission and will embrace the collaborative and supportive culture of the organization. This executive leadership position requires a dynamic, collaborative, visible, energetic, and seasoned professional with extensive healthcare experience who appreciates the unique needs of a world-class children’s health system and embodies the empathetic culture of a pediatric healthcare institution. They will have a passion for and commitment to the highest quality of care for children and their families and ensure access to care and health equity for all patients.
The next CEO must have a history of extensive board interaction. He/She will be a highly engaging, people focused leader and data-driven individual with strong business and financial acumen. He/She will have built incredible provider relationships and have an outstanding record of being accountable, disciplined, and determined in obtaining positive results. The Phoenix Children’s Board seeks individuals with strong emotional and social intelligence, and a demonstrated ability to connect with others in a meaningful way at all levels of an organization. The new CEO will have a strong history of cultivating relationships with the donor community, and they will be an individual who excels at leading others and creating followership.
