WellStar Health System (WHS) seeks a dynamic financial executive to serve as Assistant Vice President, Talent Acquisition (AVP). This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing and evolving health system serving greater Atlanta and the state of Georgia.
WHS has grown tremendously over the last several years and is one of the largest and most integrated not-for-profit health systems in Georgia, with 11 hospitals, nine emergency departments, nine cancer centers, and more than 300 medical office locations. Reporting directly to the Chief Talent Officer and managing a team of approximately 45 FTEs, the AVP is responsible for enhancing talent acquisition functions and leading a dynamic team of recruiters and directors to attract and hire top talent into the organization. This role involves partnering closely with executive leaders across the organization to lead strategy, report on progress, and propose initiatives to improve the talent acquisition experience, enhance processes, find and implement efficiencies, and deliver recruiting-related training initiatives. The current model is evolving towards a more centralized approach, allowing for a broader blend of expertise and experience. Additionally, the AVP drives creative pipeline building and sourcing strategies, working with the talent acquisition team and WellStar leadership to ensure hiring remains a top priority across the organization. They also recommend and lead innovative strategies to build WellStar’s talent brand and provide a phenomenal candidate experience. This includes leveraging AI and automation to build a best-in-class Talent Acquisition function.
In collaboration with the Chief Talent Officer, the AVP communicates WellStar’s Talent Acquisition strategy, plans, metrics, and organizational recruitment initiatives to corporate executives and regional HR business partners, ensuring alignment of local needs with System initiatives. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, including the ability to grow, mentor, and challenge a team to perform at their best every day. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills are essential, along with a proactive approach to exploring new sources or research for developing talent pipelines, emphasizing data-driven approaches, and utilizing forward-thinking technologies.
The ideal candidate has a high degree of integrity and the ability to exercise discretion, with a minimum of eight to ten years of progressive recruitment work experience and at least five years leading a large healthcare recruitment team. Prior experience in building recruiting infrastructures for rapidly growing organizations, including process, strategy, metrics, and systems, is also essential. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
This role is based in Atlanta, GA. WHS is open to a hybrid work schedule.
