UNC Health Nash (UNC Nash) is seeking an Executive Director, Human Resources for its system located in Rocky Mount, NC. UNC Nash is comprised of three licensed hospitals and 345 beds. As one of the largest employers in the area, UNC Nash employs more than 1,800 employees, including 180 physicians on active medical staff and over 700 registered nurses. With approximately $360 million in operating revenues, UNC Nash is recognized as a top-performing hospital in the country after earning a four-star CMS rating and being recognized by Leapfrog with an “A” rating. The hospital was also recently recognized by Business North Carolina as one of the Top 25 Best Hospitals in the state for the third year in a row. The Executive Director, Human Resources is the top human resource leader at the organization and plays a pivotal role in ensuring HR strategies are implemented, requiring broad HR knowledge and experience in benefits, compensation, and employee relations. They will support team members in handling complex issues, provide guidance, and ideally have experience in benefits planning, open enrollment, and HRIS projects, including implementation. The Executive Director will use HRIS data for reporting and strategic planning, interface effectively with senior executives, and maintain stability within the HR team. Strong relationship skills, high integrity, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential.
The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 10-15 years of HR experience, including over five years in leadership. A bachelor’s degree in business or human resources is essential, with professional certification as a plus. The role demands a positive attitude, the ability to influence others positively, and a comprehensive understanding of HR functions like talent acquisition, benefits, compensation, and employee relations. Experience in benefits planning, open enrollment, and HRIS projects, including implementation, is ideal. The executive director must effectively use HRIS data for reporting and strategic planning, interface with senior executives, and maintain stability within the HR team.
