WittKieffer is proud to partner with The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in the search for the next Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer (Chief Supply Chain Officer). This is a terrific opportunity for an experienced supply chain executive to contribute broadly to a very successful and growing children’s academic health system and its affiliates in the greater Philadelphia area.
CHOP, one of the top children’s hospitals in the world and a four-billion-dollar pediatric healthcare enterprise, seeks a dynamic, distinguished executive to serve as its next Chief Supply Chain Officer. CHOP, as an enterprise, has set a bold direction to impact and improve the lives of children in the community and around the world, and this executive will strategically lead the vision, direction, planning and coordination of the supply chain program and the Services & Logistics Center operations across CHOP. This individual is responsible for leading positive change and setting the tone of the department as a service organization; continuously seeking to understand, meet, and exceed customer needs through initiatives that support CHOP’s clinical, operations, quality, and financial objectives.
The Chief Supply Chain Officer will lead a dynamic team that includes Sourcing & Contracting, Service & Logistics Center Operations, and Supply Chain Technology Services. They will be responsible for external supplier relationships and developing strategic relationships to assure optimal value for CHOP. Lastly, they will actively assess and develop talent and leadership within Supply Chain, emphasizing accountability and performance.
The Chief Supply Chain Officer will have highly developed interpersonal qualities and skills, as well as a strategic mindset and strong leadership skills to enhance supply chain functions and support CHOP’s mission. They will serve as a trusted strategic partner to the Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and the ideal candidate will bring a combination of deep technical expertise, strategic vision, and strong leadership capabilities to build and lead high-performing teams.
They will drive through their leadership alignment to CHOP’s culture and people strategy, mentoring the next generation of supply chain leaders in the organization. We seek candidates who will embrace the mission of academic medicine and CHOP while helping to position the supply chain team to meet the needs of this growing organization.
Experience in managing and optimizing supply chain operations or similar field, including but not limited to: contracting, logistics, and technology implementation within a complex organizational setting is required. Experience in managing supply chain functions or a similar workstream within a large and/or complex organization, preferably within healthcare, higher education, or a similarly demanding environment, is also required.
Preferably, candidates will have a strong foundation of supply chain management experience in a teaching hospital, academic medical center, and/or with a Group Purchasing Organization and fully embrace supply chain best practices. They must also demonstrate a personal style that facilitates communication, collaboration, and strong negotiation skills. We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense.
