Chief Executive Officer
Iroquois Healthcare Association
Clifton Park, NY - United States
The Iroquois Healthcare Association (IHA) and its members are seeking an experienced and effective leader to serve as its next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is a tremendous career opportunity to advance the vision and mission of a well-recognized, trusted advocacy and shared services organization serving more than 50 hospitals and health systems in 32 counties of Upstate New York.
Based in Clifton Park, NY, located in the Albany/Capital District region, IHA represents a broad array of members, ranging from rural, small community safety-net providers to large, academic medical centers in Upstate New York’s urban areas, by consistently developing and executing a vast array of member programs and services, including most notably in the context of public policy positioning, state government lobbying and advocacy, education and data analysis, and innovative business solutions that drive substantial cost savings. Additionally, IHA operates a growing group purchasing organization, conducts data analysis, and develops and implements workforce projects, emergency preparedness initiatives, and other programs on behalf of its membership. IHA has approximately 20 staff with an additional 15 individuals supporting a multi-year workforce investment organization.
The CEO will be responsible for effectively communicating with member leaders, political and regulatory leaders, building on existing relationships and fostering new connections. It will be critical for the CEO to have visibility with and a strong knowledge of IHA’s members’ issues and priorities, established by site visits and maintaining close working relationships with members. While the CEO will be expected to expertly influence public leaders and establish a strong, clear, effective voice representing Upstate hospitals, they must also lead the IHA enterprise, ensuring the coordination, mentorship, and accountability of the IHA team and programs and services.
The next CEO will be a dynamic leader with a track record in healthcare advocacy, whether as an association leader, not-for-profit healthcare leader, or experience in other roles that have afforded one to gain a working knowledge of the myriad of policy, reimbursement, workforce, and operational issues facing rural healthcare. Proven experience leading high-performing teams, convening and coalescing groups to forge consensus on complex issues, providing superb, thorough communication to a wide variety of constituents, and building trusting relationships is essential.
