Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH), based in Boston, MA, in partnership with WittKieffer, seeks a dynamic, influential, and collaborative leader to serve as the next Vice President of Global Alliances. This is an outstanding leadership opportunity to join BCH and impact the advancement of its clinical care, research, and education mission throughout the world.
Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Enterprise Services and CFO, the Vice President for Global Alliances (VP) will lead BCH’s international programs and initiatives. The VP will collaborate with senior leaders to develop and implement the institution’s international strategy, enhancing pediatric care and research globally, supporting BCH’s long-term strategic plan, and driving future growth. This position succeeds Cynthia Haines, who has successfully advanced these initiatives since joining BCH in 2015. The VP of Global Alliances represents a newly scoped role, further leveraging the focus for this leader to develop and maintain international relationships. The growth of BCH’s international initiatives and profile has been a major strategic institutional priority for a decade and continues to be a major focus of future growth and impact.
For 150 years, Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) has been a global leader in pediatric care and the treatment of complex diseases. Each year, BCH’s renowned team of physicians and nurses handles over 650,000 patient visits and performs more than 27,000 surgeries, serving patients from over 100 countries. As one of the largest pediatric medical centers worldwide, BCH’s international patient program leads in patient volume among US children’s hospitals, treating nearly 1,800 medically complex children annually, primarily from the Gulf Region of the Middle East. The BCH global team is dedicated to addressing the unique challenges and anxieties faced by families traveling abroad for healthcare.
The ideal VP of Global Alliances will have a proven track record in building relationships and managing complex international ventures. They must be an influential leader who can facilitate collaboration, eliminate silos, accelerate decision-making, and solve problems with physician and executive leaders. While experience in an academic medical center is preferred, the ability to work across a large, matrixed organization and diverse cultures is essential. A bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of healthcare leadership experience are required; a graduate degree is strongly preferred. Additional qualifications are detailed in the leadership profile.
