Cincinnati, OH – UC Health seeks an experienced and high-performing leader with a passion for improving healthcare by inciting organizational change to serve in the inaugural role of Vice President, Ambulatory Access (Vice President). This is a remarkable opportunity to join one of the nation’s leading and growing academic systems and shepherd it through a transformation that will allow more patients to be seen by its group of highly sought-after providers. Through partnering with leadership across the UC Health system and its academic partner, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (UC CoM), and oversight of a team of approximately 350 access professionals, the Vice President will drive change to shorten wait times and increase capacity in UC Health’s outpatient operations, supported by 3,500 physicians, advance practice providers, researchers, educators, nurses, and other staff. This position will be key in leading UC Health into its next phase of growth and expansion, and in supporting the patient community that is desperately seeking its top-notch care.
UC Health is the affiliated healthcare delivery system of the University of Cincinnati; it is comprised of two main inpatient campuses, a post-acute facility, a psychiatric hospital, several specialized institutes, and 62 outpatient locations. University of Cincinnati Physicians (UCP) serves as the faculty practice plan for the UC CoM and as a closely aligned multi-specialty group that, together with UC Health and the CoM, make up the academic medical enterprise affiliated with the University. With about 900 physicians, UCP is the largest physician group in Greater Cincinnati. Annually across the inpatient and outpatient space, UC Health sees approximately 450,000 unique patients who come from the local community and around the world and generates more than $2.4 billion in revenue.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of UC Health, the Vice President will be the senior leader to address the critical needs in improving patient access. This leader will create a vision for the future in ambulatory operations, leading and driving change in people, technology, and processes to bring efficiency and improved metrics in throughput, capacity, and wait times. The Vice President will be responsible for overseeing contact center and registration operations, working closely with other leaders and providers in the ambulatory operations and academic departments, and in conjunction with access and operational leadership in the inpatient areas of UC Health.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic change agent with deep experience leading organizational and programmatic initiatives that drive improvements in patient access. We seek candidates with experience working with academically affiliated providers in the ambulatory space; experience with inpatient operations will be seen as a value-add. Deep knowledge of access-related technology and the Epic EMR suite of products is a necessity. We seek a driven, high-energy professional who fits the “working leader” culture of UC Health and can work with and bring together disparate groups of stakeholders to drive change.
