Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) School of Medicine (SOM) seeks a mission-driven, innovative leader in medical education to serve as the next Regional Dean of the school’s second campus in Temple, Texas.
BCMSOM develops diverse, compassionate physician leaders and educators who provide expert patient-centered care to diverse populations, supported by evidence-based practice and scientific innovation. The SOM offers programs that cover the learning continuum from Undergraduate Medical Education (UME), Graduate Medical Education (GME) to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Baylor’s UME program has an accelerated, integrated approach to teaching the core scientific concepts that underlie medicine and the school’s exceptionally diverse clinical training opportunities combine to create a curriculum that prepares students for success. In 2023, the UME program expanded and added its first regional campus with 40 students in Temple. Baylor Scott & White Health supports the program with its expansive clinical enterprise with a focus on value-based care that features a 640-bed teaching and research hospital with a Level I trauma center. As a part of a large multi-specialty integrated physician group in central Texas, students at BCM Temple serve a diverse population and are exposed to the full spectrum of medical care. The campus also has established GME programs which are now co-branded with BCM and have been training residents and fellows for over 100 years.
Reporting to the Senior Dean, School of Medicine and School of Health Professions at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Jennifer Christner, M.D., the Dean will be responsible for overseeing the entirety of the UME program on the Temple campus.
The ideal candidate will be a thought leader in medical student education, have a distinguished track record of innovative medical educational leadership and preferably regional campus experience. Candidates must possess an M.D., D.O. or Ph.D., and qualify for an appointment as an associate or full professor within their specialty department.
