Alexandria, VA – The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) is seeking an experienced, strategic, and mission-oriented leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Following the announcement of William Hatherill’s retirement after 28 years of service, this is an exciting time in the organization’s history for the next CEO to advance its impact, as FSBPT is on extremely strong footing with a highly engaged Board of Directors and effective staff.
FSBPT employs more than 50 highly specialized staff that work closely with volunteers, members, and essential partners. The Federation has a diverse portfolio of essential services and produces the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE), which is required to achieve physical therapy licensure in the United States, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. The Federation also facilitates the U.S. credentialing of international graduates through the Foreign Credentialing Commission for Physical Therapy (FCCPT).
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be tasked with overseeing and executing the strategic plan for FSBPT, driving the Federation’s continued success and ability to navigate a changing regulatory landscape. FSBPT is well positioned to collaborate with its peer organizations to advance research on the healthcare workforce and further drive the gold standard in testing and setting professional standards.
FSBPT seeks interest from leaders who have at least five years of progressive senior-level leadership experience in a healthcare or regulatory association, or similarly complex organization, including an understanding of financial and not-for-profit management. The incoming CEO must have an understanding or ability to learn healthcare regulation and licensure process, strong business acumen, comfort with technology, and an outstanding track record of building high-trust business relationships. The CEO should possess an advanced degree in business, healthcare, or a related field and be a servant-leader. This is an exceptional opportunity for a leader to advance FSBPT’s vibrant mission and be a spokesperson to an important organization that is committed to the public’s health and safety.
