Jupiter Medical Center (JMC) is seeking an experienced, strategic financial executive to serve as the organization’s next Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This is an exciting opportunity to serve as the lead financial executive for a rapidly growing, not-for-profit, independent health system focused on improving access and providing innovative, high quality care to its community.
Based in Jupiter, Florida, JMC offers a comprehensive continuum of inpatient and outpatient healthcare services, expertise and specialties, including oncology, heart and vascular, orthopedics and spine care, stroke, obstetrics & maternity care, and pediatrics. The health system serves a primary service area with more than a half a million people in Southeast Florida. JMC employs more than 2,400 team members and has revenues of over $530 million. In 2025, they will open a new 92-bed patient tower on the main campus and are slated to open a new 29-bed neighborhood hospital in Palm Beach Gardens in 2026. The hospital at Avenir will offer 24-hour emergency services, operating rooms, diagnostic laboratory and imaging services.
JMC continues to excel in patient quality, safety, and satisfaction. JMC is the only Leap Frog A hospital in a three-county area and the only to make Leap Frog’s national list of top hospitals for all of Southeast Florida. JMC’s workforce is also very engaged due to a strong and established culture. Forbes named Jupiter Medical Center as the #1 hospital nationwide on its “America’s best mid-size employers” for 2024. With the recent growth of its physician network and geographical footprint, JMC is an organization poised for continued growth and the next CFO will play an integral role in elevating its financial sustainability as well as its desire to remain an independent health system.
Reporting directly to the President and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center, JMC resides in a competitive marketplace and has been able to maintain their independence by strategic partnerships with their medical staff, a strong payor mix and loyal community. The balance sheet has been strong, but it will be critical for the new CFO to strategically manage the balance sheet and focus on the growth of services and diversification of revenues while maintaining culture and quality. Having pristine data to make business decisions, developing more rigor around the budget process and will be essential to ensuring financial strength and growth.
This new executive must be highly analytical and data driven, a talented communicator, and an educator relative to financial matters. The CFO must be able to proactively identify opportunities for cost containment and revenue generation/capture. The CFO will thoroughly assess JMC’s financial position and infrastructure. This executive will be a solutions-oriented leader who is able to implement and improve policies and procedures within finance, such as revenue cycle and reimbursement. The CFO must be equally comfortable presenting to the Board of Trustees, senior leadership, providers, and donors. Providing a balance between strategic and operational finance will be critical to the future success of this executive. The CFO will be politically astute with experience in reducing costs, growing revenue, and creating efficiencies within revenue capture.
The next CFO will be a strategic, innovative leader with a proven track record of leading high-performing, service-oriented organizations. The CFO will be a collaborative yet, decisive leader able to contribute broadly across all levels of the health system. They must have a track record of recruiting and developing high-performing teams that mirror the culture of their organizations. The CFO will drive change across the health system seeking out greater efficiencies and improvements in operations to achieve the health system’s strategic goals and priorities. Candidates should have a minimum of ten years of financial leadership experience within a complex healthcare organization and be comfortable in a health system where culture, quality and patient satisfaction are the foundation for success.
