Phoenix, AZ - United States
Valleywise Health, one of the most respected public teaching hospitals and safety net health care systems in the country, is seeking a collaborative, mission-driven leader to serve as its next Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Serving as an integral member of Valleywise Health’s executive leadership team, the CNO will provide strategic and operational leadership while directing top quality nursing care and maintaining Valleywise Health’s outstanding clinical reputation in the community. This is an exciting opportunity to drive transformation and demonstrate commitment to excellence for the field of nursing at Valleywise Health during an exciting time of growth and expansion for the system which just opened a new state-of-the-art facility in Summer 2024.
The system is comprised of Valleywise Health Medical Center, Arizona’s only public teaching hospital, Level 1 trauma center with 247 beds, three behavioral health hospitals with 411 beds, the Arizona Burn Center which is the second largest burn center in the country, and a network 11 Federally Qualified Community Health Centers and two Comprehensive Health Centers located throughout Maricopa County. Among its many awards and recognitions, Valleywise Health was named one of the 100 Top Hospitals in the nation by Watson Health and achieved an “A” Hospital Safety Grade Rating by LeapFrog. Valleywise Health Medical Center was recently the only hospital in Arizona to receive an “Everest Award,” which recognizes hospitals that have earned the “100 Top Hospitals” designation and ranked among the top 100 hospitals in the nation for fastest rate-of-improvement during a five-year period.
The next CNO will be a contemporary leader who is able to articulate new strategies and ideas and nurture a culture that encourages forward-thinking while focusing on alignment with the organization’s strategic goals. The CNO will lead and implement quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives to ensure continued superior clinical quality and favorable financial outcomes with high satisfaction levels for patients, nursing staff, clinical staff, and physician partners in the communities served.
The ideal candidate will be a highly engaging, visible leader who inspires teams to work closely toward a shared vision. This leader will be proactive, visible, operationally focused, and results-oriented, with demonstrated success in achieving positive outcomes in complex, dynamic, and multifaceted environments. The CNO will work with a team of mission-driven staff that drive and support all patient care services functions in the organization.
