Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the VP will lead critical areas for Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, including Emergency, Critical Care, Respiratory, Renal Dialysis, and Women’s and Children’s Services. This role supports the CNO in driving performance excellence in Nursing Practice and Clinical Operations, focusing on initiatives that enhance planning, coordination, and leadership to ensure high-quality, cost-effective care. The VP will execute quality initiatives, achieve benchmark performance in nurse-sensitive indicators, and improve patient experience measures. Collaborating with site nursing leaders, the VP will maintain regulatory readiness, assist in recruiting and retention efforts, and mentor Directors of Nursing and nursing managers.
The successful VP Nursing, Emergency, Critical Care and Women’s and Children’s Services candidate will:
- Be responsible for strategic planning, development, operations, and improvement of Emergency Center Service Line, Critical Care, and Women’s and Children’s Services.
- Use skills in leadership, problem-solving, fiscal analysis, organizational development, team building, financial and statistical data analysis, sales and marketing, human resources, and relations with physicians and patients.
- Collaborate with the CNO to develop strong nursing leaders.
- Manage day-to-day operations of Emergency Services and Trauma departments.
- Prepare departmental budgets based on fiscal requirements and projected needs.
- Mentor, counsel, and discipline staff, ensuring quality work and adherence to hospital policies while advocating for nurse leader succession planning.
- Facilitate departmental plans to achieve organizational goals and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
- Analyze policy decisions for financial and organizational implications, preparing related reports and making necessary modifications.
The preferred candidate will be required to have demonstrated progressive management experience with a minimum of four years of experience in hospital nursing. A bachelor’s degree in related field is required. A master’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration, a GA RN license, and CEN certification are preferred.
