Orlando Health is seeking an innovative, strategic nursing executive to serve as the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for the newly formed Alabama Region. The Alabama Region consists of five hospitals across Central Alabama with more than 1,700 beds, more than 70 primary and specialty care clinics, approximately 1,500 affiliated physicians, and more than 7,300 employees.
The CNO will report directly to the SVP of Orlando Health, President of Alabama Region, Thibaut van Marcke, and have a dotted line to Orlando Health’s Vice President of Nursing and Patient Care, Kelly Edmondson. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented, driven, and strategic nursing administrator to build on the culture of excellence for a leading healthcare system. The CNO will be a visionary leader with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care, nursing practice, and quality. With oversight of all of nursing across the Alabama Region, this executive must possess both strategic vision and operational expertise. As a key member of the Alabama Region senior leadership team, the CNO will collaborate with clinical and operational leaders across the market to advance Orlando Health’s strategic goals and priorities. The CNO will develop and implement strategic initiatives to further advance the nursing practice across the region, strengthen quality and safety outcomes, standardize nursing operations across facilities, and ensure the highest standards of care. The CNO will drive cultural change across the market, fostering a culture that is built on collaboration, teamwork, and empowerment. It is vital that the CNO identify and build synergies across the region, streamline nursing operations across multiple sites, and implement operational changes to drive results and increase accountability. This executive will be charged with developing a regional strategy to stabilize and manage the nursing workforce ensuring that the region is recruiting and retaining top talent across Central Alabama. Other priorities for the CNO will include partnering with the corporate nursing team to develop and implement training and leadership development opportunities within the region, collaborating with regional leaders to improve patient flow, and leading efforts to further integrate the Alabama Region into Orlando Health.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned nursing executive with a demonstrated record of success in nursing administration and patient care excellence. They will bring exceptional strategic acumen and strong leadership and communication skills, with an ability to inspire and guide nursing teams toward achieving organizational goals. They will be adept at fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment, ensuring high standards of clinical practice, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. They will also be committed to the ongoing professional development of nursing leaders, advocating for the nursing practice, and enhancing patient outcomes through innovative practices and compassionate care.
