Chief Facilities Officer
University of Texas at Austin - Dell Medical School
Austin, TX - United States
Dell Medical School at UT Health Austin (UTHA) seeks a collaborative, strategic, and patient-focused leader to serve as its inaugural Chief Facilities Officer. This is a unique opportunity to provide strategic leadership for all University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School facilities and the design and construction of a new UT Austin Medical Center, a $1.5B facility investment.
The University of Texas at Austin, a top public research university with over 51,000 students, opened Dell Medical School in 2016 with support from the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation. In 2023, The University of Texas System announced the creation of the University of Texas Medical Center, which will include two new, state-of-the-art towers: a cancer center being built by UT MD Anderson and a UT-Austin-owned and operated tertiary and quaternary hospital which is projected to open with 15 ORs and 250 beds, as well as shell space for an additional 10 ORs and 100 beds in anticipation for future growth. The proposed project timeline includes groundbreaking by 2026 and opening the facility for patient care by 2030.
The planned UT Austin Medical Center marks a significant, multibillion-dollar investment by the UT System, UT, MD Anderson, philanthropic donors, and others to advance UT Austin’s bold plan to lead in health and healthcare transformation—an essential step in realizing its vision to be the world’s highest-impact public research university.
This is an exciting time for a forward-thinking, visionary, and operationally savvy facilities executive to do something truly unique: design, plan, manage the build, and subsequently operate the first university hospital owned and operated by UT Austin Dell Medical School, an innovative “hospital of the future”.
