The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School seeks a forward-thinking executive to serve as its inaugural Chief Architect. This is a unique opportunity to lead and design the solution architecture for platforms at UT Austin’s medical center, the first new AAU medical center in 50 years.
The University of Texas System announced plans for The University of Texas at Austin Medical Center which will start with two new hospital towers: the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and a UT Austin hospital. These facilities will join a growing network of clinics and committed physicians that comprise UT Health Austin (UTHA) and are dedicated to bringing world-class care to Central Texas and beyond. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer and serving as a strategic leader for the technology department, the Chief Architect will facilitate the overall solution architecture, design, and implementation of platforms and capabilities and will serve the overall UT System by providing the vision and leadership for the UT System data strategy and data platform. Early initiatives will include, developing an architecture and technology roadmap; establishing tangible architecture principles; creating and maintaining a comprehensive technology solution catalogue; mapping and triaging current technology solutions against Dell Medicine’s platform landscape; developing standards and templates for solution and integration architecture designs; developing solution and integration architectures for the EMR and ERP initiatives; designing security and privacy architecture for the overall platform landscape; and, data platform-specific efforts developing data capabilities in support of clinical research and education at the UT system level.
The ideal candidate will have leadership gravitas with experience leading architecture in a complex environment and is accomplished in managing architecture activities across multiple large transformation programs. The Chief Architect will be able to plan and execute on tangible roadmaps. They should have strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills and work effectively with stakeholders and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly growing and changing environment. Independent stakeholder management and coalition building is expected, enabled by great communication skills.
