Chief Administrator, Heart and Vascular Institute
Mass General Brigham
Boston, MA - United States
Mass General Brigham (MGB) is seeking a transformative, strategic, and relational leader for the inaugural role of Chief Administrator (CA), Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) to help build and oversee this new institute. The HVI will combine MGB’s heart and vascular clinical, research, and educational capabilities to create a world-leading institute that enhances patient access, strengthens research and clinical synergies, and delivers the highest quality care for our patients.
As a not-for-profit academic health system, MGB is committed to advancing patient care, research, teaching, and service to the community. MGB is a 16-member institution that includes a range of health care organizations. With 12 hospitals, including Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), a health plan, a physician network, community health centers, home care, and other health-related entities, MGB is dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of 1.5 million patients annually.
Reporting to the MGB SVP of Operations (SVP) and the MGB Executive Director (ED) of the HVI, the CA will aim to establish the HVI as the national leader in cardiovascular care. The CA will work in partnership with the ED – as a physician-administrator dyad – to lead all cardiovascular services across the system, assuring exceptional patient care, facilitating groundbreaking research, and administering top educational programs for the next generation of leaders in cardiovascular care. The ideal candidate will be growth-oriented, action-biased, and systems-focused. Experience in clinical cardiovascular service line or institute leadership is essential. They must have proven leadership experience in managing multi-disciplinary cardiovascular care within a complex, multi-facility setting. The CA will be an outstanding communicator with a demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams and effectively partner with clinicians and administrative leaders to achieve shared goals. The successful candidate will be able to represent MGB nationally and will possess extensive awareness of other leading heart and vascular programs across the country. This individual should have a proven track record of engaging with diverse stakeholders and bringing a broad, informed perspective to the role.
The CA will provide administrative leadership and direction to the HVI, including, but not limited to, strategic and financial planning, market share analysis, program development, capital and operational budget development and monitoring, human resource planning, including recruitment, mentorship, and evaluation, marketing and community outreach including programming and physical relations, oversight of quality initiatives, and execution of state mandated requirements and reporting. The CA will have a strong focus on providing high quality, patient centric healthcare. The CA will also develop the necessary infrastructure to advance the HVI’s research portfolio and education programs.
