St. Joseph’s Health, headquartered in Paterson, New Jersey, seeks a dynamic, action-oriented executive to serve as the health system’s next System Chief Operating Officer (COO). The system is further supported by St. Joseph’s Health Medical Group, which operates more than 100 physician medical and specialty practices across northern New Jersey. It should be noted that St. Joseph’s University Medical Center is a six-time recipient of the prestigious Magnet® Award for Nursing Excellence.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the System COO will lead in advancing the system operationally in alignment with the new strategic plan. In collaboration with the CEO, the COO will work to improve the financial and operational outcomes of the system with keen attention to quality and patient experience initiatives. The COO will seek opportunities to integrate all elements and markets of the health system to reinforce the health system’s growing presence across an increasingly competitive region. The COO will continue the burgeoning culture focused on excellence, high reliability, and delivering high-quality care to communities that need it the most.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced healthcare executive with deep operational experience at the senior executive level in a complex health system. The COO will embrace the history and mission of St. Joseph’s, espousing the belief that the System’s core mission is about more than medicine. Experience working within a public or safety-net organization is a plus. The COO will have a strong track record of leading within a diverse healthcare enterprise with a strong community focus. The COO will have experience achieving strong financial, operational, and quality outcomes and operationalizing comprehensive strategic plans. The COO will be a values-driven leader with strong emotional and social intelligence. They will have a demonstrated ability to connect and communicate with individuals in an authentic, meaningful way.
