Vice President of University Development and Alumni Engagement
Wake Forest University
Winston-Salem, NC - United States
Wake Forest University invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for its next Vice President, University Development and Alumni Engagement (VP).
Wake Forest is dedicated to educating the whole person and upholding the promise of its motto, Pro Humanitate — for humanity. The University is a distinctive institution, combining exceptional graduate and professional schools, a rigorous academic liberal arts core for undergraduates and innovative research programs for its lively academic community of over 2,000 faculty, nearly 2,000 staff and more than 8,000 students. Wake Forest is committed to educating students to be bold thinkers who can address the most challenging problems of today’s world. This commitment is made manifest through close student-faculty engagement paired with the breadth and resources of a nationally prominent research university.
The historic Wake Will Lead campaign, which concluded in 2020, raised over $1 billion from nearly 60,000 Wake Forest families and friends. Wake Forest is now preparing for its bicentennial in 2034 — the beginning of an exciting journey for the University and an opportunity to reaffirm its values and priorities, establishing an ambitious course for Wake Forest’s third century. Within this context, the VP will join the University to build on the Advancement Division’s success.
Wake Forest seeks an innovative, collaborative, and experienced leader to work with Senior Vice President Mark Petersen and the leadership team to guide Wake Forest University into its next comprehensive campaign. The campaign is projected to have an ambitious goal, requiring the next VP to optimize the current fundraising operation, prepare for growth, build capacity, capitalize on the strength of the current staff, and maintain strong internal and external focus.
The incoming VP will be a forward-thinking, engaging, and transparent leader, ready to provide strategic vision and oversight to the University’s comprehensive development program with the goal of inspiring new levels of engagement, commitment, and philanthropic support from the global Wake Forest community. In addition, the VP will possess superior communication skills, strong listening skills, and the ability to make connections across the University in order to promote collaboration and the sharing of information. Bringing a commitment to community and service, the VP will help translate the work of University Advancement toward Wake Forest’s motto of Pro Humanitate, improving the greater societal good.
All applications, nominations, and inquiries are invited. Applications should include, as separate documents, a CV or resume and a letter of interest addressing the themes in the leadership profile.
