The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Arts and Sciences Foundation invites applications and nominations for the role of Senior Director of Development and Assistant Vice President (Senior Director). This key philanthropic position offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned and visionary leader to join one of the world’s premier research universities.
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Development, the Senior Director will be a crucial member of the Foundation’s leadership team. This role is vital in upholding the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s (UNC-Chapel Hill) dedication to excellence by fundraising for the College of Arts and Sciences. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of approximately 75-100 major and principal gift prospects and work closely with the dean’s office, department chairs, and volunteers to secure essential funding.
The position also includes supervisory responsibilities, overseeing and mentoring development team members, conducting regular performance reviews, and driving the overall strategy for major gift cultivation. As part of the senior leadership team, the Senior Director will contribute to the coordination and execution of principal and major gift activities, campaign strategies, and the development of fundraising priorities.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of professional-level fundraising experience, particularly in direct solicitation. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are essential, along with strong leadership capabilities and a high level of integrity.
