For nearly 30 years, Nils Hopmann has served as a widely respected, visionary executive with expertise in management consulting, executive search, mergers and acquisitions, and more. In collaborating with pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device firms as well as venture capital and private equity companies, Nils builds trusting, long-term relationships to deeply understand clients’ cultures, goals, missions, and leadership needs. As global head of WittKieffer’s Life Sciences Practice, Nils leads a unified international team in serving clients with care and concern whatever and wherever their talent and leadership needs may be. As head of WittKieffer’s global operations, he ensures consistent quality and excellence of the firm’s services worldwide, championing the promise to improve quality of life through impactful leadership.
Nils joined WittKieffer following an extensive tenure at another major global executive search and consulting firm, where he served in several key roles including global sector leader, Healthcare & Life Sciences. He led that firm’s key client relationships in healthcare and the life sciences conducted high-profile board and CEO recruitments, managed complex M&A integrations in public and private companies, and partnered with private equity and venture capital firms to facilitate M&A transactions. During his five years of leadership in this position, he grew the sector more than threefold. He was also a member of the company’s Operating Committee and its Executive Committee. Nils’ consulting experience spans executive search and advisory services across the life sciences marketplace, with a particular specialty in big pharma, med-tech, and related private equity.
Earlier in his career Nils was regional manager for Central Europe for GE Healthcare, and before that a managing director for GE Capital IT Solutions, overseeing a staff of 180 individuals across more than 10 locations. Nils received his Diplomkaufmann, equivalent to an M.B.A., from the University of Passau in Germany. He has worked in Germany, the U.S., China, and Hong Kong and is fluent in English and German and has a working knowledge of French, Spanish, and Mandarin.
