Job Description

Boston, MA - Brigham Health (BH) seeks a physician leader who is passionate about quality, patient safety and enhancement of the patient experience, to serve as its Chief Quality and Safety Officer (CQO). S/he will guide quality and safety to new standards of excellence at this world-renown academic medical center.

BH, a global leader in creating a healthier world, consists of Brigham and Women's Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, the Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization and many related facilities and programs. BH serves as a primary teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School and is a national pioneer and leader in quality and patient safety, committed to enhancing patient care and outcomes.

The CQO will be the catalyst to lead systemic passion and devotion to quality and safety and will instill a culture of clinical excellence across the enterprise. S/he will be responsible for driving and implementing performance improvement changes, informed by measured outcomes to fulfill Brigham Health’s mission and obligation to its patients. Overseeing risk management, the CQO will enhance policies and procedures to provide pre-emptive intervention to mitigate risk. In addition, this physician leader will be responsible for identifying and executing strategies to maintain and enhance the culture to continue to elevate BH's patient experience. The CQO's leadership and direction will not only drive BH to exceed national quality benchmarks, but to continue to define them.

The successful candidate will be a physician with current Board Certification and a substantive track record of experience in a forward-thinking, complex and high performing academic medical center. S/he will be involved in postgraduate and medical school education and at minimum, should possess the qualifications for appointment to Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School, with a demonstrated trajectory towards appointment as an Associate Professor. An advanced degree in healthcare management, the study of quality or a business related field is desired, but not required.
