Job Description

Witt/Kieffer has been retained by Carson Tahoe Health System in Carson City, Nevada, to assist them in their recruitment efforts for a new Chief Medical Officer (CMO). The position is open due to a retirement.

Carson Tahoe Health is a comprehensive healthcare network featuring two hospitals, two urgent care centers, an emergent care center, outpatient services and a provider network with 21 regional locations. Their reach stretches far and wide, encompassing Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville, Carson Valley, South Reno, Dayton, Lake Tahoe, Yerington, and beyond.

The CMO will report to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and serve as the key physician voice on the Executive Team. He/she will focus on developing a culture of excellence in clinical quality, patient experience, physician and caregiver engagement, efficiency, and integration of business and clinical factors. The CMO will be a driver for optimization of clinical information systems and its use for meaningful management decisions.

Carson City is the Nevada state capital and is located within a 35-minute drive of the beauty of Lake Tahoe, the hustle and bustle of Reno and the old west flavor of Virginia City.

The successful CMO will be a physician with appropriate board certification and progressive experience in clinical practice. Most importantly, candidates will have the ability to relate to inpatient and ambulatory providers and issues. Candidates with experience in development and administration of a quality program in a hospital, medical group or managed care environment will be strongly considered.

Candidates must have at least five years in a physician/executive/administrative leadership role; an advanced degree in healthcare or business related field is preferred. The successful CMO will be inspiring, collaborative, an outstanding communicator, and able to build relationships to engage peers in delivering excellence in clinical care.
