The Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CDO) is a newly created role and the candidate selected will be WellStar Health System’s inaugural CDO.  Under the direction of WellStar’s Executive Vice President, Human Resources/Organizational Learning & Chief Compliance Officer, David Anderson, the CDO will collaborate with leaders across the system to lead and support diversity, inclusion, cultural competency and diversity-oriented workforce development initiatives.  The CDO is responsible for the development of diversity, inclusion, cultural competency and work-life strategies that fully align with WellStar’s business strategies.  The CDO leads WellStar’s system-wide diversity and inclusion strategies. The new CDO will serve as the key liaison for all existing diversity councils and committees and evaluate their effectiveness in improving diversity and inclusion outcomes.  The CDO will develop key internal and external partnerships through the formation of collaborate relationships with national, regional and local job development, training and diversity organizations.  The CDO will make a strong business case for diversity and develop policies and practices that  promote focused attention to diversity and inclusion matters, including workforce recruitment, retention, workforce planning, career development and health care disparity.

The ideal candidate for the CDO will possess significant experience working in a management role that includes strategy development, project management, facilitation and presentation experience, corporate communications and policy administration, as well as at least five years of experience in a Diversity and Includes Function.
