Witt/Kieffer is assisting Centra Health, Inc. based in Lynchburg, VA in recruiting its next Chief Compliance Officer (CCO)

The Chief Compliance (CCO) will provide overall direction through the strategic development and execution of a healthcare compliance program in support of the mission and strategic goals of Centra Health, Inc. This position will report to E.W. Tibbs, President and CEO. The Chief Compliance Officer also reports directly to the Chair of the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Centra Health, Inc. Board. This executive position serves as a role model for ethical management behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical principles, compliance with federal and state law in all areas of compliance programs and privacy, and assists in planning and identifying priorities for compliance. 

Centra Health, Inc. is committed to elevating its compliance program across this multi-hospital system. The new CCO will create an integrated, enterprise wide compliance program to support the Centra health, Inc. and Piedmont Community Health Plan. This is an inaugural System position and is a mission critical leadership role designed to centralize and develop a single compliance program serving the needs of a growing organization. It is critical that this leader establish him/herself as a visible, approachable individual who is a transparent, proactive and effective communicator. 

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree while a Master’s Degree, Law Degree, other advanced degree, a certificate in health compliance or a Certified Public Accountant background is preferred. In addition, candidates must have an outstanding record of achievement with at least ten (10) years experience in healthcare and knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations regarding privacy, healthcare billing, delivery and operations. Prior leadership experience, ideally at the executive level in a complex integrated healthcare delivery system or physicians’ centric organization is strongly desired. The successful candidate will also be a transparent and collaborative leader comfortable spearheading and supporting change, rather than identifying fault, in a complex environment.
